"If I installed 1 2255 I installed over or close to 100. 2155 may be a half dozen and their non metered cousins maybe another 50. 90% in discos or churches in old Mexico. Only had 1 where the diagnostics circuits went bad. Most of the time it was bad outputs or something burning up on a driver board. I always thought 7270s were just scaled back 2255. The next step up was really the 7300 or my favorite 7200. That being said I liked the sound of the 2255, it didn't matter if they were pushing Altec or JBL disco Speakers, Klipsch mwm boxes, La Scala tops or bottoms in musician type enclosures or Mac home speakers. They always gave great sound and many hours of service under strenuous conditions with supply AC voltages swinging anywhere from 90 to 130 volts in old Mexico. In Catholic churches and Cathedrals we used line regulators to control the voltage. They were quiet, and provided many hours of non fatiguing sound when used with either Bozak or Urei Disco Mixers. Most of the Home sales were up grades replacing tube units or other than Mac early SS stuff. For big power the 2500 was the choice. I liked the sound they produced except on my speakers where I preferred the 7200 because of its high dampening factor which gave my woofers more speed. But unless you are willing to invest in Quad balance amps the 2255 is a great choice." - AudioKarma.org
